Individual Counselling

Counselling and therapy are both terms that refer to a professional relationship between a mental health professional and a client.

At Stardust, we have a number of social workers and social service workers who provide individual counselling services.

Services are offered virtually or in person at our office at 987 King St E, Unit 104A. Some of our therapists offer Walk and Talk therapy, and some therapists can meet with clients in the community or in clients' homes, but this varies from counsellor to counsellor.

Individual Counselling

It can be scary to think about starting counselling. Therapy can be uncomfortable, vulnerable, and awkward. However, it can also help with a large range of life struggles, including but not limited to:

  • life stress

  • relationships with others

  • self-esteem

  • depression/anxiety

  • trauma

  • difficulty at school

  • identity issues

  • grief and loss

Each of the counsellors at Stardust have different areas of experience and knowledge. They each have their own unique approach to therapy, and the conversational experience you will have with each counsellor is very different.

One of the most important parts of therapy being effective is the client and therapist having a strong, trusting relationship. You can get a sense of whether you feel comfortable with a therapist by meeting for a short consultation, so you can get a sense of their vibes and whether they feel like someone you can talk to.

Some people have strong gender or cultural background preferences in a therapist - and that's okay! Some people feel safer working with women - that's okay. Some trans folks feel more comfortable working with a trans therapist - also okay! In fact, it's normal and okay to have strong feelings about your counsellor's identity, especially if your experience with your own identity is an important part of your journey. If there's a specific piece of lived experience or cultural identity that you're looking for in a therapist, please let us know and we will do our best to accommodate that.
